Dominican Sisters of Charity of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin
Blessed Marie Poussepin
(Social Apostle of Charity 1653-1744)
“A Community of the Third Order of St. Dominic for the service of the Parish, to educate the youth and care for the sick poor” The raison “d’etre” of her community is the service of Charity.
Marie Poussepin wants her community to be uncompromisingly Dominican. In her "Reglemens." she stresses the intensity of contemplation directly related to the proclamation of the Word and the service of Charity; the search for Truth in humility and simplicity; the importance of liturgy and life in common according to the "custom of communities of regular life;" and the active participation of all sisters in community assemblies. "Keep the presence of God in all your actions". She invites the sisters to pray at all times, and, with this continual prayer of the heart, to do "everything for the love of God"
